Performance Characteristics
107 silicone rubber is an organosilicon material polymerized from siloxane monomers, with hydroxyl groups at both molecular ends.
Its structural formula is as follows:
- HO-Si(CH3)2O[Si(CH3)2O]nSi(CH3) 2-OH
In addition to the general properties of methyl silicone oil, this product also exhibits hydroxyl reactivity, allowing it to be used to create new materials or crosslinked into elastomers (or films).
This product is a colorless, transparent liquid with excellent electrical insulation, high and lowtemperature resistance, a high flash point, a low freezing point, and can be used long-term within the temperature range of -50°C~ to +250°C. It features a low viscosity-temperature coefficient, high compressibility, low surface tension, superior hydrophobic and moistureresistant properties, chemical inertness, and physiological inertness.
Technical Specifications
- Appearance: Colorless transparent liquid
- Viscosity (25°C,mPa·s): 50–100,000 (customizable upon user request)
- Hydroxyl content (%): 0.5–3 (directly related to viscosity)
107 silicone rubber serves as a primary raw material in RTV Mold silicone rubber, defoamers, and silicone sealants.
- Due to its excellent electrical insulation, it is used as an insulating, moisture-proof, shockresistant, and heat-resistant encapsulation material in radio, electronic instruments, semiconductors, and other electronic components or assemblies.
- In the automotive and machinery industries, it is used for rubber roller materials.
- In textiles, plastics, and printing industries, it is used for rubber rollers.
- In the construction industry, it is used as a joint sealing material.
- It exhibits excellent release properties, making it especially suitable for manufacturing precision molds and imprint materials.
Generally, it is combined with a curing agent to achieve crosslinking and curing. When used for release paper, a coupling agent is also required. Typically, the curing agent dosage is 3–5% of the base rubber, and the coupling agent is 0.5–1% of the base rubber. In most cases, the base rubber is diluted 10 times with a solvent before adding the curing agent and coupling agent, which are then evenly stirred and applied to the substrate surface. It cures at room temperature or with heating. At room temperature, curing requires more than 30 minutes, while heating at 120–150°C requires 30 seconds. For sealants and mold adhesives, solvents are unnecessary. After adding the curing agent, mix well (curing agents for one-component and two-component systems differ), remove bubbles, and cure within 30–120 minutes.
Precautions
Do not mix with acidic or alkaline substances, alkoxy silanes, or high temperature steam, as this may lead to curing or changes in viscosity.
Packaging and Storage
- Store in sealed, clean plastic containers, avoiding contact with strong acids or alkalis.
- Store at room temperature in a cool, ventilated place.
- Handle as a nontoxic, non-hazardous material for storage and transportation.
